It was in the 80′s, the granite is a bit cheese-grater, and the city of Evergreen’s annual parade put us on a pork sandwich detour that lasted hours–but Jimmy was not to be deterred.

He took down a couple Three Sister classics (one of them being a 25+ move traverse that may have been a project from the right side of the wall). Watch the video below to see how Jimmy warmed up the day before sending his second 8B+ at the park.

I’m also beginning to feel really comfortable on the easier stuff. My movement and strength now has a greater understanding of the rock here.

However, every now and then, I do have to employ super powers to make sure things go as planned. As you can see in this video of me flashing La Baleine, the ‘power slap’ came in real handy when my rare nemesis The Foot Slip attacked on the top out:

Another Note: On this trip, I have kept at least one foot (I have 27 feet) in the advertising world. Recently, I posted a couple of interesting blog posts at www.rabbleandrouser.com. One about Pepsi’s new logo presentation .PDF, and the other about Facebook’s privacy policy blunder.

Anyway, this boulder is phenomenal! If you look closely, you can see me double clutch on the polished single-digit pocket as I’m reaching out the roof. (And, yes, I did clean my shoe on my pant leg before completing the last move)

I’ve climbed now for a total of about 9 hours, and it appears indoor basketball and weekend drinking wasn’t the best training for Fontainebleau. However, I’m beginning to find my groove again. The groove where climbing is easy and I really go to the crag just for laughs with friends.

I’m learning new things and meeting great people every day, and it’s hard to beat that…except when you add this wonderful dinner, making it impossible to beat: chorizo sausage, salmon, and gouda cheese, on fresh bread with a cheep bottle of cabernet from somewhere I fear pronouncing.

Thanks for all the comments (I wonder where JJ’s half friendly/half angry/half incompetent ranting is – maybe the climbing video will stir something?)
